Applet LVInter 1.2

LVInter can scroll a string on a faded background.
This is the tag used in this page:
<applet code="lvinter.class" archive="lvinter.jar" width="440" height="30">
<param name="background1" value="CCFFCC">
<param name="background2" value="FFCC00">
<param name="speed" value="15">
<param name="datafile" value="message.txt">
<param name="link" value="http://www.cromoteca.com/">
<param name="text" value="LVInter by Luciano Vernaschi">
<param name="target" value="_blank">
<param name="foreground1" value="990000">
<param name="foreground2" value="000099">
<param name="font" value="Helvetica,3,14">
<param name="credits" value="applet by www.cromoteca.com">
</applet>

If you think that this applet has too many parameters, note that some are redundant and allow you to obtain the same result in different ways.

  • background1 and background2 are the background colors.
  • foreground1 and foreground2 are the colors of the string. The second is used when the user moves the mouse over the applet.
  • text is the message displayed when you don't set DataFile or when the file specified in DataFile is not found.
  • link is the link used if you don't specify it in the file.
  • datafile allows you to use a file containing the text you want to display. You can also include the link in the file, using an absolute url (e.g. "http://...") and putting it at the beginning of the file. Look at the example file.
  • font is the font used to display the message. Remember that the only fonts always available in Java are: Helvetica, TimesRoman, Courier and Dialog. The first numerical value is 0 for plain, 1 for bold, 2 for Italic or 3 for Bold Italic. The second number is the font size.
  • target is the target frame for the link (optional).
  • speed is the speed, measured in characters per second (default 10).
  • sleeptime is a pause between frames, in milliseconds (default 100). I strongly recommend you to use it to allow users to read the string clearly. The best value depends from the CPS one.
  • separator sets the character used as separator in some other parameters (e.g. font). Default is comma.
  • handcursor uses the hand-shaped cursor over the links or not. The value can be "Yes" or "No".
  • credits must be set to "applet by www.cromoteca.com" as a credit for the author. (This is required if you use this applet on the web, otherwise it won't work)
